WATERBLAST
Waterblasting at 3000 p.s.i. or higher is necessary at least twice during the preparation
process to remove remnant solubles. After Degrease & Rinse, and after Acid Wash & Rinse.
The water used should be low in dissolved minerals.
Tip should be no further than 80 cm from the surface to ensure good pressure.
Allow minimum 3 days drying, at 25o C and 50% humidity, before painting.
Waterblasting may also be carried out to remove unsound paint or substrate, however
NB: that is additional to waterblasting that must be undertaken following both Degrease
& Acid Wash.
If removal of unsound paint is required, it is recommended the surface be waterblasted
a second time, at least one hour after the first blasting, to ensure all unsound material
is removed.
If old paint is curling at edges after 1 hour, waterblast again. Repeat if necessary.
If this continues, you may need to sandblast to remove all paint.
